Nobhill Staff

Nob Hill Travel was founded in 1989 based on the principles of creating good value and meaningful travel experience to both domestic and international destinations. Together, our staff has over 200 years of combined experience in the travel industry. During that time, we have spent our lives exploring the world, but also specializing in specific areas of particular, personal interest. We focus on crafting private, unique itineraries to international destinations for individuals, families, and small groups.

My wanderlust began early in high school World Geography class, followed by six years of college, focusing on international studies. After several years living in Trinidad, Ecuador and Finland on assignment with the State Department, I returned to the United States and became a travel agent. I especially enjoy planning and arranging land-based and soft-adventure travel to developing areas of the world, offering clients the opportunity to learn about and experience cultures in a short period of time.

Overseas travels have taken me to Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Columbia, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatamala, Trinidad & Tobago, Puerto Rico, a number of Caribbean Islands, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, England, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Hungary, The Czech Republic, Israel, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Senegal, Japan, Hog Kong, Singapore, Thailand, China, Southern Australia, New Zealand, and the Fiji Islands. Closer to home: Hawaii, Alaska, and Western and Eastern Canada.

I was hit hard with the travel bug on my first sojourn to Europe as a young college student. With no agenda, just a backpack, Eurail Pass and Frommer’s Europe on $5.00 a day, I spent three glorious months touring the continent. That was the beginning of a lifelong love affair with exploring the fascinating planet of ours.

After almost 30 years as a travel counselor, I still get a thrill out of arranging fabulous travel experiences for my clients, excited to assist them in their own journey of discovery, to destinations far and wide.

I have specialized in custom, personalized itineraries throughout the world, with a heavy emphasis on Europe, though by no means exclusively. Along with that, I also plan multi-generational family holidays, honeymoons, soft-adventures, cruises and spa vacations, to name just a few, and I am a Tahiti Tourism specialist.

Though my own bucket list seems to be getting longer, I have traveled to many destinations, including: England, Scotland, Holland, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Morocco, Israel, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Thailand, several Caribbean Islands, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, the Hawaiian Islands, Allaska, Canada, Fiji, French Polynesia, and most recently Chile and Argentina. I am particularly excited about South America right now and I am looking forward to more travels there.

I arrived in Portland from Key Largo Florida where I lived for 30 years. During that time, I worked as a travel agent for 20 years and following that, as the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce Marketing Director for 3 years.

My niche at Nob Hill Travel has developed primarily into that of organizing and leading group travel, including our amazing trips to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland. Meeting with groups and researching destinations for their trips is enjoyable for me. I look forward to working with your group.

I have been a travel agent since 1982. I enjoy helping my loyal clients with the travel arrangements, whether they need an economy airfare, an involved international ticket, a vacation package, cruise booking, hotel reservation, car rental, business trip, emergency travel, family reunion, destination wedding, group travel travel, or an itinerary designed to any destination based on their special interests. My clients include families, students, singles, couples, international speakers, teachers, missionaries, lawyers, honeymooners, seniors, friends, and many referrals.

My personal travels have taken me to Mexico, Central America, and South America, where I can use my Spanish to converse with the locals. Some of my favorite destinations in Latin America include: Oaxaca and the Yucatan in Mexico, Monteverde and Tortuguero in Costa Rica, Machu Picchu and Cuzco in Peru, and the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador. I have also traveled to Fiji, Tahiti, Hawaii, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Greece, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, England, Ireland, Croatia, Russia, Hong Kong, China, several Caribbean Islands, Argentina, Guatemala, Canada, and many cities throughout the United States.

For over 30 years, I have enjoyed sharing the excitement of travel planning with my clients. I always encourage these friends to educate themselves about their destinations and I try to enhance their trip by suggesting new ideas and different itineraries. I look at travel as an education–you have the opportunity to meet new people and experience interesting cultures. I really love sharing tips and advice that I have gained from my own trips and find each new travel plan exciting and challenging.

I have enjoyed traveling throughout Western Europe including: France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Great Britain, and Ireland. I have also traveled to Czech Republic, Slovakia, Budapest, Japan, Hong Kong, Tahiti, Mexico, and almost every state in the United States. I have been fortunate to travel by cruise ship, river cruising, and barging in Europe.

I started my career in travel by utilizing my clerical abilities, beginning as secretary to the President and clerical assistant to the group department. Those early days included filling charter flights (remember those $99 Pineapple Fares?), and typing itineraries for our motorcoach tours which explored the Canadian Rockies and our National Parks.

Through the years I’ve worked on personal travel, business travel and group travel, no matter if the travel was by plane, train, automobile, or cruise. Through it all, group travel has been where my heart settled. I’ve worked on groups ranging from 10 people to over 1,200 people!

I’ve arranged simple round-trip airfares to extensive tours, and on occasion, have assisted a person out of a stuck elevator, rescued sleeping children left on a tour bus, and offered a bit of marriage counseling now and again.

I love group travel! My extensive traveling has taken me to parts of the United States including Alaska and Hawaii, many of the National Parks, Canada, Mexico, The Caribbean, England, Amsterdam, Germany, Austria, Greece, Turkey, Hong Kong, Japan and China.
